No Destination

2025
No Destination presents a series of paintings by Rebecca Foster Clarke that explore atmosphere, memory and the strange emotional charge of cinematic space. Drawing from the visual language of film and the uncanny quiet of suspended moments, Clarke constructs scenes that feel both familiar and slightly displaced.
Animals, shadows and fragmented figures appear as if caught mid-gesture, their presence hovering between narrative and suggestion. The index evoke the logic of dreams or half-remembered films — spaces where meaning remains just out of reach.
Rather than resolving into clear stories, these paintings operate through mood, tension and subtle disorientation. They invite the viewer to linger in uncertainty, inhabiting a space where direction dissolves and the act of looking becomes the only destination.
